Lacey G, 16, Modesto, CA: Who's your biggest fashion influence? Hilary Duff: My biggest fashion influence, believe it or not, is my mom. She not only has a sharp eye for style, but she also pretty much knows what's coming and what's going. She reads and travels to keep up with what's going on in the fashion world. Jessica Sharrett, 14, Hillsboro, OH: Have you ever wished you were older than Hayley? What are the perks to being the youngest? Hilary: Absolutely, so that for once I can look at her and say, "I am the oldest, so listen up"! I will always and forever be the baby girl in the family and be able to get away with way more stuff than the oldest. I think the baby holds a special meaning for parents.
KeryAnn L. 15, Hunts Pointe, ME: What's the hardest thing you've had to learn to do in acting, as a career? Hilary: I think the hardest thing is to master the technique of acting. Knowing where and how the cameras are angled and exactly how far or close the shot is. After a while, you realize it's more about being where you are supposed to be, and facing where you are supposed to face than the acting performance!
Shannon, 19, Mequon, WI: What do you love about Joel? Hilary: Joel has a good heart, plus he's also funny and smart. He's also got a great relationship with God. Licia T. 18, Miami Beach, FL: Which one of your former costars would you love to do another movie with? Hilary: I thought working with [my sister] Haylie on Material Girls was fun. We had two separate trailers on our first day filming and we got rid of one. We shared one trailer the whole time. Talk about true bonding! I had been so busy the past few years, I didn’t realize how much I really missed my time with her. I also liked working with Carson Kressley on The Perfect Man. He's crazy and funny.
Rachel B., 16, MD: How do you deal with negativity in your life? Hilary: I try to breathe and shake it off. Negativity is a mindset. I try to stay positive. I am happy to be healthy, involved in a good profession, surrounded by great people, a loving family and I have peace of mind. It's so easy to get caught up in people’s lies and jealousy. I get tons of it daily. So, no negative Nancy is going to throw me off of my game!
OK girls, now it's our turn! Alloy couldn't resist asking Hil a few questions of our own. Alloy: Is it easier to play a sister or BE a sister? Hilary: Definitely to play a sister. Even though I really bonded with [my CPD2 costar] Allyson Stoner, in real life being a sister is forever; it's not on one day, off the next. It's through the good times and the bad. It's growing together, crying together, laughing together. Wow time flies. What will Hails be doing in 10 years? Will I be matron on honor? It's scary how it goes so fast. Enjoy each day with your sister.
Alloy: Would you want to have a big family someday just like your fam in Cheaper by the Dozen 2? Hilary: Wow, that's a big family! I think I'm happy with one sister. You take for granted small things like bathroom time or wanting to watch a movie at home without having to have 11 other people agree. Or if you go out for lunch, the overall percentage gets to choose the place! It's fun on the set, but I like my mom and sis and dad!
Alloy: What makes you feel like you're finally an adult? Hilary: I have felt like an adult for a long time because I have an adult job and the majority of the people I deal with are adults. So I have matured early. Along with big jobs come big responsibilities.
Alloy: You recently recorded "Material Girl" for your upcoming film, and your new single "Beat of My Heart" sounds Madonna-inspired. Do you see yourself acting and singing when you're in your late 40s, like her? Hilary: Wow, that would be awesome! Madonna is doing it. She looks great, and has always been able to reinvent herself. I am my own person but I wouldn't mind having the foresight and in-depth knowledge of the industry.
Alloy: Hey, Joel's already told the world what he's getting you for Christmas, so what are you getting HIM? Hilary:: Hey, that's a secret! Wouldn't you like to know? (Um, yes we would, Hil!)
You can catch Hilary on the big screen when Cheaper by the Dozen 2 hits theaters December 21st!
